What the what????????????

These are succulents and stones made out of felt, people!! All made by hand, by the uber talented Monika Popowitz. She has always been an avid rock collector, loving the sentimentality and the stories associated with the finds. A few years ago, she left her graphic design job to pursue her first expression of creativity - sewing. She crafts and molds these incredibly realistic beauties and sells them in her Etsy shop, Miasole

So here's the thing....I actually have a really healthy, happy yard full of flowers and shrubs. Not to mention loads of inside ferns, chinese evergreens, schefflera, corn plants, peace lilies, and snake plants, but......I can't keep a succulent alive to save my life!! The plant that is supposed to be foolproof, does not thrive in this fools home. It's making these felt lovelies even more appealing!

You might remember when I tried my hand at a felt corsage and boutonniere for last years prom. I loved the way they turned out and now want to give felt succulents a try!!

Visit Monika's etsy store, Miasole, here.

Put a letter on it

Excuse me while I get real southern with ya.

Love these monogrammed belts designed by Kristin Henchel Designs. She offers tons of designs that can be printed or embroidered in her etsy shop.

Or if you want your monogram a little closer to your heart, then check out these sweet necklaces that are hand made by Danielle in her shop, Merriweather Council.

Wouldn't these be fun bridesmaids gifts?

'Cause when you're southern, you use them everywhere you can.'

I'm loving: Nicole Porter

Tuesday, February 18, 2014

While shopping for a few items for an upcoming event, I discovered the shop of Nicole Porter Design on Etsy. This talented lady has a housewares line that includes wood, ceramics, and textiles, as well as being a published cookbook author. I just love her simple graphics pared with bright punches of color.

'In my work, I try to re-imagine familiar furnishings and update them for today’s world. My aspiration is to create quality products that are sourced from American manufacturers.'

Hands down, my very favorite item in the shop is this set of NC napkins! I could seriously plan an entire party and table setting around these colorful linens!

Visit her store, she has tons more.

Take my money: Paint by Number mount

Monday, January 20, 2014

I'm not sure what's re-lit my current antler love. I mean, I have loved using faux deer heads in clients spaces for years. They have been made out of paper mache, some out of twigs, moss, and for kids rooms I have used soft mounts that look like stuffed animals. We do live in the mountains and for the most part, my clients want their rustic cabins to really look like, well, a rustic cabin. {sigh}
I have several twig deer heads that I bring out and light up for Christmas and some smaller cardboard heads that I use year round in the 'man cave'. But, lately I am feeling the desire to get my hands on a {naturally shed} real antler mount. There are loads to choose from when you peruse Etsy and Ebay. But, I want something a little unique. Over the weekend, I visited one of my favorite Etsy stores, Upscale Downhome, and landed on the brand new additions to her shop.

And I gasped a little.

I have loved the way Sarah has jazzed up her mounts with paint, trim and plaid fabrics. But, now she is embellishing the plaques with vintage paint-by-number canvases {and you know how I feel about these!} I just love these!

Get on my walls!!!
