It's been a little quiet around here. I try to keep it fun and creative on my little blog, but creativity is hard to muster when life is 'throwing grenades'. We lost another teenager to cancer yesterday. Corey Fish was 15. We know this family so well. Corey and Jack have been friends since elementary school. His sister, Courtney, had been on Maris' ball teams for 6 years. Many many seasons were spent on the bleachers with their sweet mama, Rene.
. Corey spent the last year and a half in a hospital in Chapel Hill fighting an unbelievable fight. Our Sylva welcomed him home yesterday, lining the streets with balloons and signs, to wave at his ambulance as it brought it him back to the mountains that he loves.

A few hours later, he was no longer in pain.
We have another incredible teenager, Jackie Balliot who has been battling her own cancer. She wrote something last night that I asked her permission to share with you.

wise words from wise kids.
We will miss you, Corey
