A while back, I did a post on painted custom rugs that were created by some great bloggers. Some
of the images were pinned on Pinterest, and well...they took on a pinterest life of their own! They
have been hyper-pinned! Since this idea is obviously such a popular one, I wanted to share a few
more beautiful custom made rugs.
Lydia at Pudel Design loved the pattern on this rug and used it as her inspiration:

She bought a plain Ikea rug and created a stencil.

She filled in her design with gray-blue latex paint.

After the paint dried, she outlined the pattern with white paint.
Pretty great, right?

Sarah at Diddle Dumpling also used an Ikea rug and a very similar pattern:
Cristi at CharmHome used a..you guessed it.. Ikea rug and her stencil was made out of contact paper:

I love how this rug looks in this nursery!

And Carissa from The Fabulous Design Files sent me pics of her great rug that she made using a foam play mat:
After priming, she stenciled her pattern with latex paint.
She finished it off with 2 coats of Varathane and voila:
All of these rugs are fantastic! And, although they took a ton of patience, these ladies all saved a bunch of money.
What about you--have you painted your own rug? I'd love for you to share it with me!
