We've seen it on pillows and upholstered chairs. We love it on ottomans and wallpaper. It's great on stationary, on the back of bookcases, and even on covered boxes.
The infamous ...Chiang Mai Dragon
Let's all just stare at this fabric for a minute, shall we...

As much as I love it, I own nothing covered in that crafty dragon.
Until now!!
Maris and I found a pair of TOMS look-a-likes. For less than 13 smackers. {Can I just tell you how awesome it is wearing the same size shoe as your stylish 16 year old?!}

Plain, cotton, and perfect for painting.
I taped the inside with frog tape and stuffed them with newspaper. Then I gave them a few thin coats of white spray paint. This just acted as a good base coat for the craft paint.

Using a pencil, I sketched the chiang mai dragon and all his floral friends on the shoe.

I then mixed my craft paints with textile medium and got to painting.

It took a looooong time to complete that one. I tried desperately to convince Maris that we only needed one painted shoe. 'Really, all the cool kids are doing it.'

She didn't buy it.

All the hours were worth it because Maris loved them.

I need to get a picture of these crazy kicks with an outfit other than my pajamas.
What do you think? Would you be comfortable rocking these schumacher slip-ons ?!
