Have you seen the great projects people have done using the oversized prints from Staples ?I Take a look at these images:

Aren't these fun?! They are called 'engineer prints' and they are normally used for printing blueprints. But, if you don't mind black and white, a fairly low resolution, or it being on paper, then you can have a 4'x3' in just minutes for around 5$!
I knew that this idea would come in handy one day. And one day has come.
I took some pictures of Maris' Varsity Volleyball team last week.

The first 2 were their 'fierce faces' then we got the 'sweet' under the fierce in the last one :) Maris wanted to hang one of these up in the gym lobby and she decided that the first one was her favorite. We turned it into Black and White in Windows Photo gallery. You don't have to do this because Staples will simply print it B&W, but, other folks have said that it's not so pretty, so you may want to do it yourself. Then download it to a jumpdrive or you can simply add the file to their website here. They will print it out in a few minutes! If you've ever held a blueprint, then you know what kind of paper this is printed on--nothing fancy, but if you check out some of the above blogs, you can see how they mod-podged them to foam board to make them more substantial.
We decided to have ours laminated for an additional $2.50.
Now we did ask for the largest possible {4'x3'} but...the gal working at Staples had a name badge on that said 'in training' and she was by herself {you get where I am going, right...}. It took her half an hour just to figure out how to transfer from the jump drive. And, naturally, we were in a huge hurry so we basically just said 'give us what you can'. I think it was closer to a 2'x3'. But, for less than $8, I think it is pretty cool!
