Bring it Target!

Thursday, January 13, 2011

During my snowed-in hiatus, I have had some time on my hands. So, between stints at dressing
my rocks {jk} I have vicariously been dreaming of spring days by perusing my favorite clothing catalogs.
This is the time of the year that I add all my favorite outfits to my online 'cart' and then
wait..patiently.. for a few months... for them to go on sale. One of my faves is Calypso.
I am a tunic gal and they have some srsly cute ones. {Thats Jen A. rocking a cute little Calypso number} :

Well, hold. on. sisters...you aren't going to believe this news:

what..what
Ya'll this is BIG !! I mean Calypso and affordable have not been used in the same sentence before!
And it's not just their clothing that is terrific, I mean look at these current cuties:

As you can see, the current price tags are not on the 'low end'. But, they will be when they
hit Tar-jay on MAY 1--
NOTHING OVER $79.99 !!

Still. Snowed. In...

We got more snow last night. Yep. ....more.

This is our 9th day of missed school due to snow.

I'm going to give you a second to let that sink in...

Here we snow again...

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

When you look out your window, is this what you see? We've been dumped on once again.

I haven't been able to leave the house in 4 days.

This is me.

This is me standing on 10" of snow. Count 'em.

I know I'm not dressed appropriately for the weather, but I love this cute little yellow number.

I'm having a moment.

A loud moment that occurs after 8 DAYS OF MISSED SCHOOL!

Now if you'll excuse me....I can't feel my legs....

I will learn to fish -- for reel...

Monday, January 10, 2011

This is a very typical home in these here hills {sigh} And I have been hired to work on quite a few
of these 'knotty-pine-covered-everything' homes. Apparently, they can also be found in the Catskills.
This was how this 900 sq ft fishing camp looked when PR guru Melanie Brandman discovered it :

After she took the ceiling down, replaced the linoleum and wood floor with 12" {beautiful} dark
stained pine, added stone to the fireplace and covered the walls and ceiling in {gallons} of
{wonderful} white paint, then this is what happened:

{cue the angels singing}

On the other side of the room before:

The walls came down in the kitchen and pantry to open it up to the rest of the living area
and the new kitchen went in:

Ridonculous, right?

It's always a struggle when I have the 'should we paint the wood' conversation with clients.
But, if this little lovely can't help you answer that question then shut. my. mouth.

Mrs. Brandman wanted a big white space that she could fill simply with art. check. She did not want
anything too country or cluttered. check. And she had no interest in spending a ton of money on either
the remodel or the furnishings {my kind of gal} check. Case in point: The kitchen is from Ikea, the
appliances came from a salvage house and most of the furnishings and accessories came from ebay.

Another view of the living room:

The 3 hanging lamp chandeliers were made of wood veneer shavings from XY Decor. They were
inspired by a cluster of hanging lamps that Mrs.Brandman saw in the lobby of the InterContinental
Hotel on Bora Bora. Being a world traveler has given her the great opportunity to collect gorgeous
vintage pieces that give such great sophistication and a lovely bohemian vibe to her lakeside home.

She's not afraid of mixing it up: an Aboriginal tapestry from her native Australia in the dining area and
punchy citrus colors in the bedroom.

Wouldn't you love to sit here with an old Domino, sipping your coffee on a cool spring morning

while you look out over this....
